Guest Poet – Carm Montez
I want to introduce you to my friend and fellow educator, Carm Montez. She is a delightful person and a darned good poet. Carm has been sharing her poetry on Twitter and Facebook and I think it needs to be seen another format as well.
Below, I am including a selection of poetry that Carm picked for this blog. I have attempted to coordinate pictures that represent what she has written. So without any more of my chatter, here are Carm’s stunning poems. By the way, she is bilingual and some poetry is in both English and Spanish. There is at least one in Spanish only. Enjoy!
… hole in his pocket
stars from her eyes
littering the sidewalk
under his feet
brilliant… in the morning sun
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
on her lips
he tasted what no other had before
and he wept ….
Wish I could speak Spanish —
Y despues
me caigo
satisfecha
… completamente rendida
tu dulzura chorreando de mi pecho
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In earth’s chapel
blessed by the sun
my lips
sweet with the nectar of desire
are passionately married to yours
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here, in this alley,
With the sun barely overhead,
We surrender to each other
Risky
Adventurous
Exciting
Red boots and spurs
She whispered in his ear …
I have a couple more, but want Carm’s permission before posting them. Both are exquisite and she has paired them beautifully with pictures.
