Trap of the Heart
In the beginning You appeared to be an open door As time went on that door began to close more and more and more Until… One day it Slammed shut in Anger without warning Loud… A bang that echoed across the miles What happened? Ego?… Secrets?… Anger?… All directed toward me Yet… I have no idea what lies behind it all Months later a small crack… a brief opening… Hope? Not at all You see… All trust is gone And… the door eases shut this time with brief… occasional… glimpses… cracks… no anger… perhaps one day it will open again But… I will be ever cautious. I will not be so quick to accept. I will not be fooled again. An open door is Not always friendly… welcoming… But… Sometimes it is in reality A Trap of the Heart This poem was inspired after reading Doors by Carl Sandburg. © 2013 Annie Original PoetryAlways…I wish you peace, joy and happiness, but most of all I wish you Love.
