He knew when
to hang up
the keys
My 14th year
and licensed
to drive
His Pride and Joy
the only car
he ever owned
A 1940 Chevy
Special Deluxe
touring car
with all the
bells and whistles
He wanted to
give it to me
Dad refused
the gift
Required me
to buy the car
My first car purchase
$35 1940 Chevy
Special Deluxe
touring car
His Pride and Joy
I named Scotty*
in his honor

Always…I wish you peace, joy and happiness, but most of all I wish you Love.
As Ever, Annie
*My across the road neighbor growing up was a man of dignity and grace by the name of Scott Thompson.  His grandchildren and I were fast friends and I became an adopted member of the family.  Widowed he never remarried.  Was in the grocery business until he retired and walked to work every day, even before he hung up the keys to his precious car.  What wonderful memories I have of this dear man!
The car in the picture is an exact replica of my Scotty right down to the fog lamps on the bumper and the cream paint job … wish I still had that car!
