Coming Home

Escape was all
she could think
Driving all night
through pouring
rain that kept
the windshield
fogged mixing
with her tears

She didn’t know
where she was…
where she was going…
the road sang beneath
her tires accompanied
with drums of raindrops

Just around the bend…
a rise in the road and
dawn splitting through
the last of the clouds
She saw a neon sigh

Flashing…
     gas…
guitars…
     gas…
guitars…

A sign in a
sign in a sign…
She needed gas
and it was time again
to have a guitar

Stopping…
she felt like she
was coming home…
