Quiet Time

Watching you from 

across the room

Your emotions dance

constantly across

your face

 

Deeply engrossed in

your book

You don’t know

I am watching

 

Softly, I cross

the room

Take away your book

Remove your glasses

 

Time to curl up

in your lap

my head on your shoulder

And…

Cuddle

Always trying to

get back to the

Apologies…

please —

give me actions

Not words

 

Trust…

Lost —

difficult if not

impossible to 

Restore…

 

Loyalty…

a must or

nothing will ever

Last…

 

Love…

will it

Survive through

it all?

Red

My mother would be

so proud of me

 

I have finally

embraced my 

Red Side

 

She always wanted me

to wear Red saying

with my raven hair

dark brown eyes

And…

bronze skin 

Red was

              my

                   Color

 

But…

 

Even as a 10 year-old

all I wanted to wear

was black

Wednesday was my

role model back then…

Pre-teen angst!

 

Now…

 

Red is one of my

favorite colors

Exemplifying my

fiery side …

Deep…

Sensual…

Lips…

Clothes…

Shoes (flip-flops!)…

Even…

My car

 

I can just see her

smiling in heaven 

saying …

“Finally! She gets it!

Well Heeled…

It is so true 

that clothes make the man

or woman for that matter

 

But…

 

Shoes tell the true story

How they look tells

everything about the

person who wears them

 

They don’t have to be

designer or outrageously

expensive

 

However…

 

Shoes MUST be

well cared for…

Attention getting…

Statement making…

 

Being “well-heeled”

tells it all!

Farm House Rules

My grandmother lived in an old

farm-house on a black dirt East

Texas farm when I was a

very young child

 

Just her with my two uncles

My grandfather long dead

before I was born

 

Spartan…

No paint…

Wide front porch

Bathroom with a 

claw foot tub and sink

But…

Other business took

place outside

 

A square refrigerator

wearing a coil bonnet

the kitchen lighted by

a single bulb hanging

in the middle of 

the room

 

Country living…

Daylight to dark
