Dance With Me

Dance with me
she said
I’m drunk he
replied

Yet…

She snuggled
into his arms
and nestled under
his chin
Safe…
Secure…
Desperation…

He held her close
closed his eyes
and breathed
in her youthfulness
Remembered…
Wanted…
Finally —
Let go…

Looking back on
that day she still
wonders what
happened
to the man
who in dancing
gave them
new life…
