Farm House Rules

My grandmother lived in an old
farm-house on a black dirt East
Texas farm when I was a
very young child

Just her with my two uncles
My grandfather long dead
before I was born

Spartan…
No paint…
Wide front porch
Bathroom with a
claw foot tub and sink
But…
Other business took
place outside

A square refrigerator
wearing a coil bonnet
the kitchen lighted by
a single bulb hanging
in the middle of
the room

Country living…
Daylight to dark
Farm House Rules
Sweet Childhood…
