undone…

I release the dust
of your soul to the
Universe

I return you to the
stars from whence
you came

I remove all ties
that once united us
our souls no longer
touch
our hearts no longer
beat as one

undone…

Dreams…

Dreams…

We all have them
Our own for good or bad
Joint at times
But they are
Always there…
Always with us…

Dreams…

For each of us
searching for those
parts of ourselves…
of others…
wanted and unwanted

Dreams…

Keep us going
Keep us searching
Keep us sane – or not
Looking deep into
our inner most
passions…
wants…
soul…

Do you
      Dare
              to Dream?

The Lamp

The Lamp

Meant to hold
darkness at bay

The lamp…
stood for so
much more

A symbol of
prosperity…
wealth…

Something almost
idolized…
worshiped…

Yet…

Held only the
true meaning for
those with a
pure and open
Heart…

Hands…

Hands…

The hands that
held me…
nurtured me…
guided me…

Are long
        Gone…

The hands that
gently led me on
a warm Autumn
afternoon under
a canopy of fiery
leaves and
sheltered me…
taught me…
protected me…

Are long
        Gone…

These hands once
held by love
Now are aged…
Freckled…
Lonely…
Will never hold
the hands of
a child…
another lover…

Those hands
remain…

Yet…

All others
Are long
        Gone…

Death…

Sightless eyes
Porcelain skin
Arms folded

My broken heart
on your sleeve

Nothing left
An empty house
Bits and pieces
of a life gone wrong

No soul…

*NOTE: The series of poems in the current chapter I am reading each day (500 poems/500 days) deal with death … this is my take on the subject.

The Day…

Today…
Began like so many others…

Late September
Crisp air
Clear skies
A blush on the
Eastern Horizon

But…

Today is unlike
any other
In that it will
never happen again

Once it is gone
It’s over…
And…
Only a piece
of History

Perhaps it will
be remembered fondly…
Perhaps forgotten
Completely…

Change…

Just as the seasons
change so do our hearts
They can close down
to everything…
to everyone…
hardened like steel
refusing to break

But…

Just when it seems
all hope is gone

And…

The heart will
never find peace again…
never feel love again…
never give love again…

The sun breaks through
leading the way to

A…
      New Beginning

Traces…

Wandering…

Enjoying the coolness
of early the Autumn air
on my skin…
the brilliant blue sky…
a paintbox of colors
resting on the trees

Along the way
I feel for
Traces of You…
Memories…
The life we shared…

The warmth of sunshine
filters through leaves
Creating shadows that
Tattoo my skin
And…
Once again…
I can feel you

Leaves…

That Autumn
I saw a blaze of
color against a
brilliant blue sky

You took me where
the beauty came
shining through

A beauty that can
only be seen where
the nights are cold
and the afternoons warm

Leaves like I have
never seen
Colors I did not
know existed

My excitement
through your
eyes reminded me
of Van Morrison
And…
When the Leaves
Come Falling Down

Such a happy time
Neither of us knew
it was soon to end

Smile…

An open window
Lacy curtains gently
blowing in the breeze

She turns
Remembering…
That day long ago

When…

On an afternoon
just like this
She first gave
her heart away

That was long ago
All she has left
are Memories

And…

She smiles…
