Lone Owl…

A pre-dawn walk

the wonders of nature

in the October crisp air

 

My day just waking

as night tries to hold

the covers tight and 

isn’t willing to give

up night’s beauty

 

Crystal clear sky

Stars so close they

can be touched

 

And…

 

A lone owl demanding

‘Whoo’

is invading the beauty

of his peaceful dark domain…

Cracked…

The mirror reverses

everything

Yet…

Tells all…

Reflects the truth

as well as lies

 

Moving closer

She touches herself 

No longer recognizing

the face in the mirror

 

When did the change happen?

Where did she go?

Who is she now?

 

With a lightning flash

the mirror cracked

And…

Her true self escaped

returning her soul 

to reality…

 

No longer held prisoner

by someone she was

Never

Meant to be…

Universe Shifting

Planets realign

Stars change positions

The Heavens prepare

For the coming Winter

 

Still a few weeks away

Yet…

The shifts are being felt

Mercury turned … but

life is still off kilter

 

Tempers flare … to quick

Emotions are on edge

Change is afoot

And…

My skin crawls

with energy

 

Only the Universe knows

what is really coming…

Whiter Shade of Pale…

This morning…

the walls are 

bare again

 

Stark white

a blank canvas

 

Each painting…

Every picture

All the prints

save one from a

lone London artist

have been stored

 

Their sight too painful

Too many memories

 

They remain in the

dark hidden recesses

Until…

My heart no longer

Cares…

in summer

And…

before Christmas

had moved on

 

There have been

many others since then

And…

Most likely were

many before me

 

The words

loyalty…

faithful…

And

Commitment

are unknown

to you

 

Because…

 

I see once again

there is another

new Conquest …

The Letters…

One day I will have

the courage

One day I will 

take time

One day I will

read that 

stack of letters

I found

Hiding in the

bottom of a

trunk my Mom

had all my life

 

Who are they from?

What were they about?

 

The return addresses

are not familiar

Nor are the names

 

What does this mean?

Did she have a secret life?

Whose Eyes?

Are those your eyes

looking through me?

 

Or…

 

The eyes of a stranger

who looks past me as 

though we 

never met…

you never knew me…

I never knew you…

 

Those eyes once 

were only for me

 

Yet…

 

Now all I see are

eyes that are 

vacant…

dead…

soulless…

 

What happened?

Who are you?

 

Turning unknown

eyes toward me…

Flowing Well

Squealing with delight

I ran to the well

 

Sitting in the 

Church yard

It was a 

point of pride

 

The cold clear water

continually bubbling

from the deep underground

had been there for 

centuries

 

Holding me in his

strong arms

Daddy lifted me 

to the water 

 

Drinking deep

I wondered what

it would be like

to dive into that

huge bubbling well

and see what was

on the other end
