Christmas Night
The crescent moon
hanging at an angle
like an open bowl
It catches stars and
drips moonbeams
Enough light to guide
me through my nightly
chores
Trees dancing in the
wind as the new comer
follows me
A snow-white kitten
who appeared the night
before Christmas Eve
acting as though it
knows me…
belongs to me...
To my knowledge
none of the barn Queens
have kittens that age
A mystery…
Just as much as the
sudden disappearance
of my favorite young
Tom and tiny gray and
white kitten who both
disappeared after
Thanksgiving
One to replace two …
a gift from
Karma?
