Poetry
Friendship, Fun, Lost
Fun…Lost
When friendships are
more work than fun
what is the next road?
Do you continue…
Work harder…
Try more…
Care deeper…
Or…
Do you close the door
Quietly walk away
Leaving it slightly ajar
In the event
Fun returns…

Comfort, Magic, Silence, Snow, Winter

Winter Magic
There is a strange silence
in falling snow like living
inside a cotton ball
Outside the absence of
sound is comforting
like being cradled
in a mother’s arms
Inside the sound is so
different …
Similar to wearing
ear muffs of childhood
I am sure there is
a scientific explanation
for the silence of
falling snow
But…
To me it is only
Winter Magic…

Connection, life, Peaceful, Soul, Spiritual
Connection
Some places…
Some people…
Stand out in my
mind like holy things
Oh…
I don’t put them up
on a pedestal to be
worshiped
I learned that lesson
long ago
Nothing and no one
will ever be worshiped
by me
Holy to me is
a point of
reverence…
a spiritual thing…
Something or someone
that speaks to my soul
Reaching me on a
new level
If I connect life
is easy…
laid back…
peaceful…
If I do not
life dissolves
into chaos

Annie's Muse
Poetry
Demanding, life, Words, writing
Words…
Sometimes I sit reading…
doing dishes…
folding clothes…
And…
The words start
Words that MUST
be captured
Words that find a
white space and crawl
on their own from
my pen…
taking control of my
hand and mind
until they run that
particular course…
Looking back at
random journals or
previous blog posts
I sometimes don’t
recognize the
words as my own
Because…
Words have a life and
mind of their own
and demand to be
released
Sometimes…
in multi-colors
across white pages…

Forgotten, Hurt, Ignored
Forgotten
Out of sight…
Out of mind…
Totally ignored…
Forgotten…
Not even considered…
No thoughts…
This has been let go
But…
The hurt is deeper
than I want to admit
So…
this is where
Caring
And…
Concern…
have gotten me
in my life
Always…
Forgotten…

Moon Magic
Last night the Moon
was magic hanging
in the Western sky
like an upturned
bowl catching stars
Venus and Mars were
putting on their show
to the left
Breathtaking in its
Beauty…
Leaving me speechless
as I could not take
my eyes off the sky
Jupiter in the Eastern
sky jealous of the Moon
but beautiful in its
own brilliance
Tonight the Moon is
just as beautiful
But…
The juxtaposition
of it with the planets
is not the same and
the magic is not
there from last night
As I get older the night
sky holds mystery and
awe for me — the mystery
of our Universe and the
ever-changing panorama
of the night sky

Black Moon
I am so blessed to live
in rural Texas
I am also blessed
to be able to walk
freely every day
before dawn when
the sky is deep blue
and decorated
with stars
Then…
Again in early evening
just at full dark when
the stars again come
out to decorate the
black velvet sky
above me
Tonight…
A night of magic…
the night of a
SUPER New Moon…
Called The Black Moon…
blessed me with a sight
that is rare even for me
in the country
Tonight the heavens
are their deepest black
Stars hanging high and
far away so as not to
disturb the darkness
of the Black Moon
Turning for home on an
unlit stretch of road
my breath was taken away
Above me…
In front of me…
Surrounding me…
A rare glimpse of
the Milky Way
Hanging there in
the black velvet night
Not in its full glory
because there is still
too much light in my
little rural town
But…
There in the sky
letting me know
in the thousands of
Galaxies hanging there
We…
Are Not Alone…

Spring, Tease, Weather
Tease
Snow yesterday
Cold North wind
Winter…
Today…
Spring in the air
Brilliant sunny skies
Warm South wind
We are being
Teased by Spring
Again…

Cancer, Closed, Family, Losses

Source: We Heart
Dew Drops…
So many losses
Family…
Friends…
To one nasty disease
Cancer…
When will it all end?
A cure…
It is just around the
corner if the powers
that be would only
open their eyes
Until then…
I am resolved to
look to the sky and
count my losses
in diamonds…
Stars…
like dew drops
shining in the early
morning light…

Dipping, Garrett's, Ladies, Southern

Garrett’s Sweet
When I was a child
Genteel Southern ladies
did not smoke…
They dipped Garrett’s
Sweet Snuff
My aunt in South Alabama
and our family friend in
Texas both dipped
Each had their own method
My aunt used a sweet gum twig
she called a ‘toothbrush’
And…
our friend put a tiny pinch
in her cheek
As a child I found this
fascinating
But…
Never wanted to try it…
seemed way too
messy to me…
