Who Knew…
All those years
I was the shy
silent one
The one who
most people forgot…
Ignored…
Never considered to be
of any importance…
Yet…
All those years
of being on
the outside looking in…
I watched…
Listened…
Observed details…
Learned…
No one ever knew
that they were
being mentally
recorded…
Every detail…
Every action…
filed away in
the deep dark
recesses of my
mind…
to be used when
needed in the future…
Bringing back
every mean word
and deed…
every hurt…
every time I
was left out…
ignored…
used…
abused…
abandoned…
Or…
neglected
by those thinking
themselves better…
superior…
entitled…
Because…
You see…
I have the
Magic…
the ability…
the power…
To bring each
and every one
of them to their
knees…
the ones who
wronged me
in any form or
fashion during
my life
They didn’t know then…
and most don’t know now…
I am a WRITER
And…
My works have
POWER…

I matter…
I am human…
I am female…
I am flesh and blood…
I am caring…
I have feelings…
I am a person…
My life matters…
My love matters…
I matter…
Do not throw me away…

Memories, Past, Preparation
Gypsy Child
My life has
been a series
of travels…
adventures…
a gypsy of sorts
due to my
father’s profession
A new town…
a new home…
Every six months
or so
Attachments were
difficult due to this
rambling lifestyle
Connections either
made quickly and
just as quickly
forgotten
or…
not made at all
The lifestyle
shaped who I
am today…
An adult always
reluctant to commit…
to relate to anyone…
never to love
or be loved…
For fear the
past would
repeat itself
and be gone
before it could
really begin
Looking back…
my gypsy childhood
was my preparation…
a dress rehearsal…
for the inevitable
life of always
Being Alone…

Bloodstained Luggage
I am not one
to hobnob
with the elite
I do not
advertise those
who crossed
my path
nor critique
their perceived
greatness
Yet…
I muse over
the battered and
bloodstained
luggage that
makes me
realize memories
and zany adventures
dwindle with age
And…
the radiance in
your eyes and
shining from
your face is
all that remains

Ancestors, Desire, Dream, life
Hills and Heather
My heart belongs
across the Atlantic
My desire to return
a yearning deep in
my soul
To walk the
Hills and Heather
Retracing the steps
my ancestors made
To see purple and
thistle
And…
Feel the weight
of my plaid

Poetry
9/11, Death, Devastation, Loss, Moment, Nothing
… and Then There Was None
Oh… the absolute
horror as we watched
the event of 9/11
unfold before our
eyes on TV
Who could have
done this horrible
thing…
the senseless act…
the unimaginable…
As we watched the
towers attacked…
the planes flying
into them with
callous disregard
of life on land
and in the air
There were more
questions than
answers that day
…as there are
even to this day
We had been
attacked
Our trust breached
Innocents lost
And…
Before the day
was over where
the Twin Towers
stood was…
NOTHING…
nothing but death
and devastation
and tremendous
loss…
Loss of life…
Loss of security…
Loss of trust…
And then…
There was NONE…

Civil Rights, Fight, Human, Rosa Parks, Struggle, Tired
Tired…
She was so tired…
Tired of the struggle…
Tired of the inequity…
Tired of being treated
as something other
than human
The bus doors open
She steps aboard
Looked down that
long aisle to the
back and thought
Enough…
Today is the day
I refuse to be
something I am
NOT…
I deserve the
Respect…
the option…
the RIGHT…
to sit in the front
section of this bus
to sit in any seat
I choose
And…
So it began…

Today’s prompt … write a historic poem.
*This poem was written in honor of and dedicated to Rosa Parks and her strength, dignity and pride for the Civil Rights of all people regardless of color, gender, or race. The bus seat was/is symbolic for the fight that continues to this day.

Nature, Springtime, Texas, Weather
Earth Day
Today brings the
uncertainty and
potential violence
of nature
Typical Spring
weather in Texas
Potentially dangerous
storm with
deadly lightning…
torrential rain…
damaging winds…
golf-ball sized hail…
And..
Tornadoes…
Mother Nature in
all her power on
the one day to
celebrate her glory…
Just a typical
Texas Spring Day…

Poetry
Cat, Dainty, Delicate, Diva, Grey, White
My Cat, the Diva
The runt of her litter
and the only female
a darling little white
thing with a grey face,
head and ears above
a delicate pink shell
of a nose
her matching grey tail
extending from one
of several grey spots
along her back
four tiny white feet
creates a dainty
little girl
No other name
but DIVA
could describe
my lively girl
who holds her
own with the boys…

Poetry
life, Wisdom
Wisdom
Through the years
I have been told
by more than one
highly evolved person
that I am an
Old Soul…
That I have walked
this earth many times
and touched many lives
I don’t know about
that for sure…
But…
I am sensitive…
Empathetic…
Intuitive…
And…
Independent…
I seem to know
things I should not
Read people for
more than they
appear on the
surface…
And…
Feel the weight
of the world…
Universal pain…
A difference in
someone dear to
me even before
they are aware of it…
I react to the
subtleties of life…
love…
the cycles of both
Moon and Tides
And…
Observe everything…
everyone…
Put up my protective
shields…
And…
Go my Own Way…
