Here is the Writing Outside the Lines challenge prompt for the week of September 27th:
You come upon a blue door in a stone wall. What happens next?
Prologue: This week has been a struggle for me … not to find time to write, but to take time to write … this prompt or anything else. Personal demons are chasing me and unfortunately they have won some days and I have won others … right now it is a draw because you can never really fight your demons and win.
Blue Demons
Blue has always been my favorite color
from the clearest pale aqua to the
deep midnight sapphire blue
Blue comforts and consoles me
while at the same time
haunts me …
Sparkling blue sea water
Clear cold spring water
The artificial blue of a
man-made pool
all call my soul …
Reach out and comfort me
when life needs to be
Rejuvenated…
Refocused…
Renewed…
Yet …
Those deep dark midnight blues
hide my demons…
My fears…
My nightmares…
I long to open this door
This beautiful turquoise door
And find that clear cold spring
That restores me and makes me whole
waiting for me on the other side
But…
The fear that lives in midnight blue
Keeps me on the outside
Where it is safe in not knowing
what is on the other side
Feeling that the known at this
point is so much safer than
the unknown ever can and will be…

Thank you Julie:) The loss of someone so young and suddenly, unexpectedly, makes those of us left re-evaluate life and what is truly important …
