You Were But a Phase
Life like the Moon comes in phases
Maybe not as often nor as regular
but phases none the less
You came into my life when I
wasn’t looking nor wanting
a relationship … but there you were
Things were awkward …
Never really gelled well
between us …
Perhaps we were too much alike
and each refused to submit to the other
Not that submission is a good thing
But … for us we had to realize it
would never be a 50/50 partnership
As e.e. cummings suggests …
“…for life’s not a paragraph
And death i think is no parenthesis…”
We were in a phase
Never to be one to sync
Never to be on the same page
at the same time
That phase ended and
so did we …
