Darkness
Hiding in deep shadows
The darkness creeps in
Allowing me to retreat
From the rest of the world
My place of safety
A sanctuary when life
Becomes too much
I don’t fear darkness
For it is there to
Protect me until
I am ready to seek
The light
And…
Return to what is
Waiting within my
Reach
And…
Walk forward

Never understand why “darkness” carries a negative connotation, as in “the dark side” or “in the dark” or dark anything. I don’t fear the darkness…that ended when I realized there were no monsters under the bed…they roam the planet, and too many rule it.
