My Childhood

I was never a “girlie” girl

But…

I wasn’t a tomboy either

Just a regular kid

who loved to play

I played hard…

Went after everything all out…

Roller skating…

Bike riding…

Skate boarding down the

Methodist Church hill

And

on the tennis courts

Lived in the pool every

minute possible

My knees, elbows, arms,

and legs were always

evidence of what

I did best…

Had a great time!

Those small scrapes and

bruises of childhood are the

autobiography of my life

back then …

A small scar or several

scattered across my

knees and elbows,

arms and legs

A childhood story for each

and every one of them

Looking at the roadmap of

my childhood across my

skin…

I smile and miss all the

good times we had

back then!

Summer Days

Summer Days

Childhood fun …
Red Rover …
Crack the Whip …
Roller Skating on
Saturday mornings
Living on our bikes …

Carefree Summer days …
Snow-cones and lemonade …
Running barefoot in the sand…
Flip flops when the ground
was too hot …
Swimming until we were
too tired to move
Catching lightening bugs
in a Mason Jar …
Breezy nights on the
sleeping porch …

Oh … the memories
the wonderful friendships
made and kept for
a lifetime

Looking back …
I yearn for a simpler
Time …
when life was uncomplicated
and meaningful …
loving and safe …
No worries or stress …
just LOVE
