Ghost Shadows

Ghost Shadows

Waking to a clear

cold morning

She was surprised

by the heavy frost

Sparkling like a

blanket of tiny

diamonds covering

the world

Clean…

Pristine…

Undisturbed…

Her footprints

appeared like

ghost shadows

showing her path

Quiet…

Calm…

Peaceful…

Even the dueling

roosters and owl

were silent as she

made her way

along her morning

walk

Refreshed…

Rejuvenated…

She returns home

to begin the day…

Darkness Behind Stars

My life resides here…
In a place where few go…
And…
Even fewer know exists

A silence…
A great absence…
Bitter Cold…
Lonely…

The place where
Broken Souls go
The place that no one
wants to find
The white-hot cold

Of…

A darkness behind the
Stars…

Pain…

Breathing in cold air
until my lungs ache
Walking fast only makes
it hurt more…
Everything…
Head…
Lungs…
Legs…
Heart…

Try as I will
there is no escaping
The PAIN…

Rain Like Tears

Rain Like Tears

It began last night
That mournful sound
The singing that never ceases
A melody taunting her soul…
Causing her heart to
fear the coming storm

Rain like scalding tears
freeze with each touch
burning cold…
leaving deep and
lasting scars
Unseen…
Yet…
deeper than any wound

The Menace

The Menace

She walked
down the hall
flanked by two others
making a laughable
Charlie’s Angels
Parody

Dressed in black
looking like a
biker chick
(but not really
able to pull
it off)

She went from
full on Gray
to Red

A red that on
another…
someone with
a better complexion
would have
worked

But…

On her…
it was harsh…
unflattering…
and brought out
all the ugliness
on her face

Trying to be
something…
someone…
she could
NEVER
be

My Mom always said,
“You can’t put
lipstick on a pig
and call it cute.”

Just like you
“can’t dress up a
COLD unfeeling
Heart and make it
WARM”
