Southern Comfort

I grew up

in the South

with Deep Southern roots

Family and food

Go hand in hand

Food for comfort…

Food for celebration…

Food for family…

Too many wonderful

recipes to count

But…

When things were

not going well

we always turned

to basic comfort food

And…

To me

that was

Potato ANYTHING!

Winter Magic

Source: We Heart It

There is a strange silence

in falling snow like living

inside a cotton ball

 

Outside the absence of

sound is comforting

like being cradled

in a mother’s arms

 

Inside the sound is so

different …

Similar to wearing

ear muffs of childhood

 

I am sure there is

a scientific explanation

for the silence of

falling snow

But…

To me it is only

Winter Magic…

Country Morning…

Country life…

Early morning walk

and the accompanying sounds

 

The neighbor’s Palomino

Whinny’s softly as I go by –

he is home this morning

and not in my barn lot

 

The rooster on the corner

has been crowing since

4:30 AM but now he has

company …

Never before heard cocks

are competing with him

today trying to wake the sun…

One to the north on the

next street over

And…

Another one somewhere

to the East

 

It is a definite serenade

in the early morning darkness

Silencing the owl that

usually greets me when I

enter his domain

 

What new wonders await

me before I get home to

the warmth of my

kitchen and a cup of coffee

Your soul rains

down on mine

Bringing a music

Coming Home

Escape was all

she could think

Driving all night 

through pouring

rain that kept

the windshield

fogged mixing 

with her tears

 

She didn’t know

where she was…

where she was going…

the road sang beneath

her tires accompanied

with drums of raindrops

 

Just around the bend…

a rise in the road and

dawn splitting through

the last of the clouds

She saw a neon sigh

 

Flashing…

     gas…

guitars…

     gas…

guitars…

 

A sign in a 

sign in a sign…

She needed gas

and it was time again

to have a guitar

 

Stopping…

she felt like she

was coming home…

Happiness

My happiness does not

depend on you

Nor…

Does your happiness

depend on me

 

There are times we

have to accept that 

there will be

unhappy days…

weary days…

and give each other

the space needed to

find our own way

home

 

So…

 

We once again

are able to be

Happy Together…

Lead Me

and insecurities

always just below

the surface

 

Lacking in knowledge…

education…

Yet

Always willing

to learn

 

You guide me

through the insecurities

Encourage me…

Compliment me…

Always there for me

to catch me…

Pick up the pieces…

Leading me on

my continued journey…

The Darkness

The darkness is

calling…

pleading…

 

Come to me

Come to my side

I will shelter you

 

The Darkness is

comfort…

support…

 

A place to turn

when all is lost

And…

All hope is

gone

 

There is a 

strange beauty 

in the Darkness

 

I choose to 

go there as

I turn and 

walk away from

the Light
