Crossroads

Running hell-bent for leather

in the driving rain I stopped

suddenly when faced with not

one shift in the road…

but several

 

Moving wet hair from my

eyes I realized what was

before me … not just any

Crossroads

But …

Roads running in four

directions …

Creating a star of

sorts …

Meaning more than

a usual decision

what was before me

was life changing …

Changes

I am not who

I once was …

not the person

I was yesterday…

last week…

last month…

Or even

last year…

 

My life has gone

through stages

of change on a

regular basis

But…

Recently a series

of events, people,

and even books

read have led me

to reflections…

re-evaluations…

And…

determination…

to make deliberate

and purposeful

changes just for

myself…

 

Good…

Bad…

Indifferent…

Only time

will tell…

 

I can only

depend on me

Take care of

myself

And …

Take that blind

step into the future…

Leaving…

Turning away

I never looked back

It was time…

Way past time

To go

Life had not

Been good for

A very long time

Enough…

Time to reclaim

My lost soul

The only way

To find me again

To reclaim my Soul

Was to walk away

Never look back

Never remember

Just…

LEAVE

Dropping By…

My dad dropped

by tonight…

Oh, not in person

mind you

he left this realm

the summer of 1989

 

He always visits when

something important

has happened…

will happen…

or…

I have a major

life decision to make

 

He drops by as a

shooting star in the

Eastern Sky

Usually just before dawn

But…

Tonight…

Just after dark

 

I went through a

personal life change

the past few days

His appearance told

me that I made the

right decision

 

As he has done in

the past when there

have been other life

changing events

He gives me his

blessing in the Stars…

Decisions

Made some decisions

today after thinking

all night long

 

Sometime it just

isn’t worth it to

deal with people

who are unable

to share a vision…

dream a dream…

And…

make things happen

 

So…

for me …

I will go my own way

do my own thing

follow my own dreams

And…

restructure the foundation

for MY future

And leave those others

to flounder in the dark

 

I have set new goals

to put me on the way

to a much brighter

FUTURE…

Decisions…

Decisions…

A new year…

New ideas…

New plans…

And…

Decisions to be made

to create what I need

for ME

 

No longer will I put

others first

their needs…

their wants…

their desires…

are no longer

my concern

 

The only person

I can depend upon

is ME

There comes a time

for all of us toward

the end of our time

to decide…

Do we hang on

and fight…rage

 

Or…

 

Do we let go

gracefully…

willingly…

accepting…

what the fates

have in store

the inevitable…

 

My decision is

not clear…

Will I rage at

the end

 

Or…

 

Will I turn my

eyes to the light

and go willingly…

peacefully…

joyfully…

with a smile 

on my face

Magic Window

In my mind’s eye

I see from the window

a busy street

and busier people

 

All rushing somewhere

A constant flow of

interest and entertainment

for my early morning musing

Each with a fascinating

story to tell

 

She is on the way

to a new job…

her dream job…

He is dressed like

a successful businessman…

Yet…

Has been looking 

over a year for a job

What happened there?

 

The timer goes off

And…

the scene before me

changes…

The view outside my window

is my own backyard

Cats lounging on the patio…

Mr. Baby (a neighborhood dog)

strolling through on his morning rounds

being ignored by the cats

 

Returning to my view

with tea-cup in hand…

My hand twitches

and I decide to write

the man’s story…

A sad one…

But… much more interesting

 

My office window 

reminds me of childhood

and Miss Francis on TV

with her magic mirror

 

The Writing Begins…
