Freedom

When we reach a certain age

life allows us to have a new

measure of Freedom

Freedom to do and say

as we please and not

care one whit what

anyone thinks

Freedom to do and be

exactly who we want

Freedom to enjoy life

in any way possible

Allowing us to be

spontaneous and

damn the consequences

Freedom to take each

day as it comes and

act/react to any and all

opportunities as they arise

Take time to smell the roses

Or …

Go skinny dipping in

the middle of the day

Live life to the fullest …

Always …

Midnight …

Midnight …

Spring and still awake

deep into the night

Through my open

window sounds of darkness

Crickets …

An occasional night-bird calling …

A roaming cat’s lonely call …

Tires singing on the highway

as travelers make their way

home … or running away

A restlessness comes over

me as I cannot sleep

Oh to be a cricket enjoying

the cool spring night

Or … a night-bird sharing

its song for those awake to listen

Maybe a cat … free to roam and

enjoy the night

But …

Most of all …

to have tires singing beneath

me as I drive away to parts

Unknown …

Moving Forward

Riding on a
river of tears
I am taken to
new places…
new worlds…
new experiences…

Washing away the
past and the pain
Freedom….
Moving forward
Never looking back
Life goes on…

Nature’s Freedom

Listening…
Letting it all
settle in around
my shoulders like
a new white eyelet dress

The sounds of Spring
Birds of all kind
singing their songs
chattering with one another…
sharing secrets

The humming of bees
Sweet sound of honey
in the making
Golden Blessings

Gentle breezes
drifting around me
carrying Spring

Nature’s Freedom…

Renewal

Spring…
A time to
Rethink…
Renew…
And
Maybe a time of
Release…

Letting go to
be able to love
Freeing loss
and moving on

Decide who
you are…

Unfurl your
wings and
fly free…

Setting Me Free

Setting Me Free

I look down on
your sleeping face
So different from
the waking one

I see the scared
and lonely little
boy you try
to hide
The one you
try to protect
from eventual pain

Tenderly I brush
a hair from your
eyes…
Swallow a sob
And
Turn to go

One last look…
An eye-blink snapshot
in my mind
to hold you to me
like this…
a reminder…
a treasure to keep
in my heart…

I can’t stay…

My Pain is so
much deeper
than yours

Leaving is the only
option to set you
Free…

Wings

Walking outside
Gazing at the
Full Moon

Basking in it’s
Magick
Face upturned
Arms outstretched
in Praise…
Worship…
Supplication…

A gentle roll of
the shoulders
And…
Her Wings
Unfurl
Freedom…
At Last

Freedom

My personal history
has been written by
everyone but me
And…
It is nothing
like Me

Being a child
of the 60s and 70s,
I did what was
expected of me.
Never…never wanting to
cause anyone to be hurt
or disappointed by
me or my actions.

As a result, I lost
so much of ME…
Who I really was…
Am…
Was never really
myself…thinking
of others for years

Finally, at this stage
of my life, I do what I want…
what pleases ME first…
Not caring what others
say or think

This is my life…
My time…
And…
I will NEVER
be manipulated…
chastised…
ridiculed…
OR
held back…
Again for
Being ME
