Those Were the Days …

Carefree …

Bicycle days

Summer fun in shorts and flip-flops

Daily freedom after chores were done

Exploring the nooks and crannies

of my little town

Most afternoons at the pool

With …

Wednesday and Saturday

at the local library

Rock outlined play houses

Pumping hard on the swings

Bailing out if you were brave

Skateboarding down the

Methodist Church hill

And …

Roller skating on the

tennis court

Lightning Bug Nights

and homemade peach ice cream

Those were the days …

Giggles …

A friend had this bumper sticker on

her car back in the 1980s …

‘Life is too short to dance with ugly men’

Every time I saw her car it made me

Giggle …

Sometimes an out right belly laugh depending

on who she was dating at the time and/or

my current main squeeze

 

Life is too serious not to have fun

and giggles are part of fun …

Laughter is important, but giggles

are an entirely different matter …

They build from somewhere deep

inside bubbling up to the back

of your throat until they come

pouring forth like a fine champagne

They burst forth and are contagious

leaving us happy all over

and smiling deeply

 

Look for fun in life

And…

Giggle often …

When friendships are

more work than fun

what is the next road?

 

Do you continue…

Work harder…

Try more…

Do you close the door

Quietly walk away

Leaving it slightly ajar

Whiskey Glazed…

The day after Halloween

Fun was had by all

young and old

 

Crepe paper skeletons

in the front yard trees

are wet and dripping

like melted ice cream

 

November snuck in the

back door over night

and left me wanting

more October

 

Looking to Turkey Day

and all the food it entails

I begin to think new and different

 

Perhaps…

A Whiskey Glazed Turkey

or…

maybe the Ham

or…

maybe both

 

I’ll need a lot

of Whiskey by then

Crazy

Life is a series

of ups and downs

Some days better

than others

For me some are

crazier than others…

Not crazy as in bedbug looney

toons crazy…

But…crazy as in…

Busy…

Interesting…

Fun…

OR

WTF…!

In the words of

Trudy the Bag Lady…

“It’s my belief that

we’re all crazy.”

I’ll take a fun and crazy life

over a dull and boring one

any day!
