Going Green …

I am a long time

newspaper reader

Savoring it over

morning coffee …

Or … winding up the day

depending on delivery time

 

My guilty Sunday

pleasure was breakfast

in bed with the

Dallas Morning News

a newspaper with so

much to read that

it could be savored

all day long

 

I still read the news

daily … yet …

miss that feel of

paper between my

fingers … the black

stain of newsprint

on my hands transferred

as I read like news was

transferred to my brain

 

These days my daily

news is delivers via

email, social media

or online news outlets

But …

Going green leaves

me missing the

good old days of

hiding behind the

pages of a favorite

newspaper …

Guilt

Constantly afraid of

offending others

There is guilt where

none should be

 

A dear friend once

told me…

“Don’t let the 

insecurities of others

try your soul.”

 

I try to live by

those words

Such sage advice

Until…

something happens

and the old feelings

of guilt appear

where none should be

 

I go back to the 

advice of my friend…

Those whispers of truth

always keep me sane

when those feelings

of guilt creep around

the dark corners

of my soul
