The older I become the more

I realize that I am still learning

Some things I learn are not

what I expected …

But …

Necessary nonetheless

 

In the past few months

I realized that friends are

nice to have

But …

they are not a necessity

Acquaintances are more

realistic than friends

I have never had an

acquaintance stab me

in the back

Never has an acquaintance

deliberately hurt me

My acquaintances have been

loyal, respectful, caring, and

take time for me when friends

rarely if ever have done

 

So …

in  my old age the wisdom

of experience has given me

the realization that I will

never become close friends

with another person again

I will seek out and maintain

my acquaintances who

enrich my life like no others …

In this journey we call life

things are often not revealed

when and where we expect

 

Go your own way one day

at a time accepting the

challenges along the way

 

There will be choices

And …

Different roads to take

But …

Never stop seeking…

searching…

learning…

growing…

We all have our

purpose along the way …

Hot Chocolate!

My life of crime began

at the age of 3 …

maybe 4

When you reach my

age it is difficult to

remember that long ago

 

On the weekly grocery

shopping trip with

my Mom there it was

Right at my finger tips

to tempt me

And…

I did not resist!

 

My favorite candy…

A Hershey milk chocolate bar

And …

it fit exactly into my

white patent purse

 

The deed was done and

so was the shopping

On the way home I

whipped out my pilfered

snack and began to

delicately unwrap those

tempting chocolate squares

 

With many questions my mother

pulled it out of me that

the chocolate bar had not

been paid for but was acquired

by what I have learned is called

a five-finger discount

 

Finally home, groceries put away

and the lecture began about my

life of crime and how the theft

of that chocolate bar took money

away from the store owners.

 

Result of that discussion …

Back to the store and I

was allowed to go in alone

confess my crime

And…

make financial restitution

this process was much worse

than any spanking I ever had

 

Life lesson learned that day …

My one and only day as

a chocolate thief or

thief of any kind …

Move On…

There comes that day

when your heart catches 

up to your head

And…

You no longer care

 

The pain is gone

The shame non-existent

The feelings you once held

No longer matter

 

With a lifted weight

And…

A sigh

 

You know this is the

day you finally let go

So…

You can move on…

Her life was

like a river

Ever-changing

 

Water flowing is

always dynamic

forever changing

 

A finger dipped

into flowing

water in the

same place 

touches different

water every time

 

New…

Different…

Changing…

 

Like that river…

Each person in

her life touched

her differently…

influenced her 

in a new way…

became a new 

part of her

Soul…

Lacking in knowledge…

education…

Yet

Always willing

You guide me

through the insecurities

Encourage me…

Compliment me…

Always there for me

to catch me…

Pick up the pieces…

Myself mostly

my decisions…

my beliefs…

my trust…

 

Others are so much

more intelligent

I have so much to learn

and such a short time left

 

Fate…

I throw caution

to the wind

offer up my questions

Sit back…

watch…

to new adventures

moving from girl to woman

 

My final most important

Transformation

came about through

You

 

Leading me…

Allowing me…

Encouraging me…

to find the

woman deep inside 

Me…

 

Transforming me to

new heights…

new depths…

new places 

in my 

Soul

Teaching me…

to maintain the

girl inside
