Autumn Delight

The universe gives us gifts

should we choose to pay attention

Each and every season has unique

and rare gifts to share

But…

The gifts of Autumn are the

most special to me

Jeweled toned leaves that

change the view daily are

are not only a constant

but amazing delight to me

Like an ever-changing

panoramic slide show

giving me awe and wonder

in their brilliant colors

Even after they begin to

fall and blanket the ground

and road ways their

brilliance continues …

Poet David Whyte said it best:

“… a shimmering bed of

dry leaves …”

Inviting the child in me

to pile them up and enjoy

the fun of falling into

a pile of nature’s jewels …

Moon Lace

Looking through backyard

trees the full Moon

creates patterns everywhere

I notice a lacy leaf on the walk

a leaf that appears too real

to be a shadow

yet it is…

The golden Moon glowing

through the skeleton of

a lone leaf creates a

beautiful reflection of

life…

love..

hopes…

and

dreams…

The lacy remains of

a life…

a love…

my soul…

as I stand there under

a full Autumn Moon

reflecting on what was…

what was not…

and

what never will be…

Like the missing

pieces of myself

the Moon Lace

represents what

is left of me …

Leaves Fall

She stands tall and proud
Back turned toward the wind
Head held high — a regal pose

A sudden gust causes her to shudder
The wind and rain both turning cold

At this time in Autumn
Things are changing
Winter will soon take
its rightful place

But…

Until then…
She gracefully watches
as leaf edges crinkle and curl
the wind encouraging them
to shower down around her feet
Creating a fusion of brilliant color
decorating the ground

Morning Dew

Autumn…
Time of renewal
Refreshing…

Leaves on fire
paint the world
in colors rarely seen
except in nature

Morning dew
washes away
the Night…

Cool breezes
kiss the dawn
and waken a
new day…

Leaves…

That Autumn
I saw a blaze of
color against a
brilliant blue sky

You took me where
the beauty came
shining through

A beauty that can
only be seen where
the nights are cold
and the afternoons warm

Leaves like I have
never seen
Colors I did not
know existed

My excitement
through your
eyes reminded me
of Van Morrison
And…
When the Leaves
Come Falling Down

Such a happy time
Neither of us knew
it was soon to end

Autumn Leaves

We met in mid Summer
Fiery July…
Our passion matching
the heat of a blazing sun

Late starlight walks…
Moonlight meetings…
We fell hard…
fast…
Never willing to be apart
needing the touch…
to talk…
to be…

Much too soon our
Time would be over…
spent…

For me…
Time was waning
with the days of
Summer…

Not being able to
let go gracefully
I left in September
telling you to
Remember me when
the season turned

By then
For me…
all left would be
the dust of fiery
colored leaves
of Autumn…
