Transforming

We all are in stages of change

Transforming…

Becoming…

Doing…

Being…

It is not always easy

Yet …

Something as simple

as a walk in the woods

watching a sunset or sunrise …

moonlight and stars

connecting with nature …

or …

one of nature’s creatures

so we realize we are only

a tiny piece of something

so much bigger than ourselves

… and healing can begin

Autumn Delight

The universe gives us gifts

should we choose to pay attention

Each and every season has unique

and rare gifts to share

But…

The gifts of Autumn are the

most special to me

Jeweled toned leaves that

change the view daily are

are not only a constant

but amazing delight to me

Like an ever-changing

panoramic slide show

giving me awe and wonder

in their brilliant colors

Even after they begin to

fall and blanket the ground

and road ways their

brilliance continues …

Poet David Whyte said it best:

“… a shimmering bed of

dry leaves …”

Inviting the child in me

to pile them up and enjoy

the fun of falling into

a pile of nature’s jewels …

Surprise

Surprise

I love when I see things

in nature that are respected

A tree in the middle of a

country road that splits

to give it a right-or-way

A plant forcing its way through

pavement to reach the warming

sun and give beauty to everyone

A splash of pink bonnets in a

field of blue

My yard covered in yellow

primroses every night

blooming in the dark

A surprise for only me

to see or a surprise

far away for everyone

to enjoy

Nature is full of wonder

full of mysteries to

surprise and delight

each of us if we only

slow down and take

time to really see what

surrounds us daily

Earth Day – Day 22 April PAD

Earth Day

Today brings the

uncertainty and

potential violence

of nature

Typical Spring

weather in Texas

Potentially dangerous

storm with

deadly lightning…

torrential rain…

damaging winds…

golf-ball sized hail…

And..

Tornadoes…

Mother Nature in

all her power on

the one day to

celebrate her glory…

Just a typical

Texas Spring Day…

Morning Mystery

Morning Mystery

Crystal clear black sky
Stars high clear diamonds
hanging finger tip close

Walking in the crisp darkness
A stillness is broken by a
strange sound of rushing water

Yet…

Only an aural illusion…
The cold north wind moving
through the remaining tree
leaves gives the sound of
moving water…
a rushing stream…
that isn’t there

What a gift!
The morning undisturbed
but for this mystery of
Nature…

Lone Owl…

Lone Owl…

A pre-dawn walk
the wonders of nature
in the October crisp air

My day just waking
as night tries to hold
the covers tight and
isn’t willing to give
up night’s beauty

Crystal clear sky
Stars so close they
can be touched

And…

A lone owl demanding
‘Whoo’
is invading the beauty
of his peaceful dark domain…

Morning Surprise!

Morning Surprise!

Frog?…
Toad?…
I know not which
Not being versed in
the difference

Regardless..
This tiny creature was in
the outside water bowl
this morning
The bowl I keep at
my backdoor for thirsty
neighborhood critters

It has been decades
since I have seen one
Decades…
since I lived far North
of where I now am
and a family of three
lived in the sand
around my front porch

Making their classic
sounds and catching
flies and dreaded
mosquitoes
Burrowing deep in
the sand to escape
the heat of the day
to come out at
twilight and grace
me their presence

A morning surprise…
Does this mean the
drought is ending?
Hopefully, this little
swimmer will not be
a tasty snack for
a hungry barncat!

Nature’s Freedom

Listening…
Letting it all
settle in around
my shoulders like
a new white eyelet dress

The sounds of Spring
Birds of all kind
singing their songs
chattering with one another…
sharing secrets

The humming of bees
Sweet sound of honey
in the making
Golden Blessings

Gentle breezes
drifting around me
carrying Spring

Nature’s Freedom…

May…

Spring in full bloom
flowers…
trees…
grass…

gentle breezes…
thunderstorms…
renewal…
restoring…
refreshing…

The faces of
Nature…

Summer Time

Splashes of blue
and purple on
a field of white

My favorite colors
repeated over and
over again on my
eyelet sundress

The one you love
for me to wear
The one that
holds memories

It makes me
smile to see the
light in your eyes

Knowing what
is planned later
A country drive
in your convertible
to worship nature
and each other
