Passion
We so often think of passion
as it applies to love of another
or our thoughts of what of
the love of another should be
But …
Honest…
True…
Real…
Burning…
Passion shows as a light
from the soul
Eyes sparkling and
a shining face when
someone talks about
their life …
their work …
their passion …
Be it rock climbing
or composing the next
symphony …
There is no difference
in the look and feel of
passion a person has
about the importance
of their life …
And …
Their life’s work …
Passion …

Devil Woman
I was too young to be
involved in the BEAT
Generation … missed
that group completely
until deep adulthood
But …
I identified with them
and their poetry mostly
And…
Hippies …
Feminists …
Baby Boomers …
and yes …
Millennials at my
now advanced age
I found that age
doesn’t matter if you
have passion about
life … about any and
everything really
I want to be like my
friend Hazel when I am
in my 90s as she is now
and make the Devil very very afraid!

Autumn Leaves
We met in mid Summer
Fiery July…
Our passion matching
the heat of a blazing sun
Late starlight walks…
Moonlight meetings…
We fell hard…
fast…
Never willing to be apart
needing the touch…
to talk…
to be…
Much too soon our
Time would be over…
spent…
For me…
Time was waning
with the days of
Summer…
Not being able to
let go gracefully
I left in September
telling you to
Remember me when
the season turned
By then
For me…
all left would be
the dust of fiery
colored leaves
of Autumn…

The Right Love
I spent my life
searching for that
right person…
The one who could match
my fire…
my passion…
my drive…
Wasted years thinking…
is that all there is?
Hoped it would be
possible to find a match
But…
in the end …
no one even close
to my
wants…
needs…
fire…
Until you…
then I knew the
meaning of
“the right kind of love”*
that compatibility
meeting me equally
in —
passion…
sensuality…
sexuality…
need…
desire…
The One who completed me
the one I could give…
“a piece of my life!”*

Just Passing Through —
was written a few days ago before I read the following poem written by the incredibly poet and singer/song writer Leonard Cohen. I found the following poem only this morning when I picked up Leonard Cohen’s Poems and Songs and felt the connection of his poem to mine. They are not remotely alike, yet have a similar feel. ‘As the Mist Leaves No Scar’ was a new poem to me and I was surprised at the collective thought in this poem and mine. I hope you enjoy both since this is an unusual posting style for me.
As The Mist Leaves No Scar
By Leonard Cohen
As the mist leaves no scar
On the dark green hill,
So my body leaves o scar
On you, nor ever will.
When wind and hawk’s encounter,
What remains to keep?
So you and I encounter,
The turn, then fall to sleep.
As many nights endure
Without a moon or star,
So will we endure
When one is gone and far

Just Passing Through
You came to me
Unexpectedly…
A Surprise…
Yes, but…
Not really
This is just
your style
Your voice filled with
lust…
desire…
expectation…
anticipation…
And…
A question on your tongue…
Leaving the decision
once again…
to me.
A friend with
Benefits whose
company I do
Enjoy…
Neither of us
owing anything to
the other
except…
mutual pleasure
And
respect
One night of
passion…
pleasure…
and pain…
You are gone…
Until the next
time you are

Old Ideas…
Old ideas…
An old love
in a new light
We both have
grown and changed
during the lost years
evolved in the language of…
lust…
passion…
sensuality…
dare I say…
Love?
An awareness of the other
taking us to new heights…
exploration…
fulfillment…
