Peace

A warm spring day

Road trip to anywhere

My legs propped in the

open car window catching

the sun’s warmth and the

gentle breeze flowing

over them …

 

After a crazy winter of

broken hearts…

shatter dreams…

And …

lost souls…

Finally Peace is

beginning to settle in …

Peace …

The universe spoke to me tonight

Looking into the wide expanse of

stars and planets spread across

the deep black sky…

I felt first …

Then heard …

Our Mother …

Gaia …

Lift me up

Wrap a web of stars

around me like a

comforting blanket

And …

took me in her peaceful

arms … rocking gently …

tenderly …

taking away the horrors

that haunt me

whispering gently…

softly…

as I relaxed for the

first time in weeks enfolded

in her sheltering arms

A weight melted away

And …

peace surrounded me

 

The last thing  I remember

was the sound of her voice,

“Rest, little one, I have you.”

“Things will be fine soon.”

“Better —

Trust me” …

Pre-Dawn

She loved the early morning

The peace it holds while

the sky is still the color

of blue velvet with a hint

of the coming dawn

 

It is then she likes

to walk and experience

the newness of another day

 

Solitude…

Quiet…

Calm…

Where the only sounds

are her footsteps and

the beating of her heart

While the Moon whispers

‘good morning’ to the Stars

go to my 

safe place

the place of

peace…

calm…

serenity…

Where I 

recharge…

reflect…

And…

redirect…

I am sensing a

Distance

from you

 

This has not

been the norm

for a long while

 

You have a

need for space

and it is freely given

 

Remember…

 

I will always

be here

Waiting…

when you are

ready to

Dreams

Sleep won’t find

me yet again

 

The night is

Endless…

as I toss and turn

 

Then…

sudden…

deep…

dreamless…

Sleep

 

A sleep that

leaves me

Exhausted

 

Where do dreams 

go when they

don’t find me

in sleep?

 

Do they hide 

in the shadows

 

Watching…

As I battle

unknown demons

 

Waiting…

To come to me

when Peace

has been found

Resolve

I have finally

come to terms

with my life’s

reality

 

I resolve to

live every day

as it is

Expecting nothing

 

Yet…

 

Being surprised

when something

wonderful happens

 

So…

I take each day

as it comes

live it as 

presented 

 

And…

 

Resolve to

Be

Happy

Guilt

Constantly afraid of

offending others

There is guilt where

none should be

 

A dear friend once

told me…

“Don’t let the 

insecurities of others

try your soul.”

 

I try to live by

those words

Such sage advice

Until…

something happens

and the old feelings

of guilt appear

where none should be

 

I go back to the 

advice of my friend…

Those whispers of truth

always keep me sane

when those feelings

of guilt creep around

the dark corners

of my soul

Magic Window

In my mind’s eye

I see from the window

a busy street

and busier people

 

All rushing somewhere

A constant flow of

interest and entertainment

for my early morning musing

Each with a fascinating

story to tell

 

She is on the way

to a new job…

her dream job…

He is dressed like

a successful businessman…

Yet…

Has been looking 

over a year for a job

What happened there?

 

The timer goes off

And…

the scene before me

changes…

The view outside my window

is my own backyard

Cats lounging on the patio…

Mr. Baby (a neighborhood dog)

strolling through on his morning rounds

being ignored by the cats

 

Returning to my view

with tea-cup in hand…

My hand twitches

and I decide to write

the man’s story…

A sad one…

But… much more interesting

 

My office window 

reminds me of childhood

and Miss Francis on TV

with her magic mirror

 

The Writing Begins…

Backyard Morning

Gentle morning breeze

The blush of dawn

Spring kittens

chasing butterflies

and each other

Peaceful…

Relaxing…

Easing into the day

Coffee cup and

book in hand

Resting on the

porch swing

A sip…

a page turned…

settling in for a quick

read before

beginning the day.
