Obsession
Day 23: Writer’s Digest April 2016 PAD
For today’s prompt, write a footwear poem. A poem about shoes, flip-flops, socks, slippers, flippers, boots, pumps, and so on. If you’d prefer not to dedicate a poem to your footwear, just mention footwear somewhere in the poem. That’s right; your hi-tops don’t have to be the star, and it’s totally cool if somebody’s clogs play a minor role in the poem.

Obsession
I have LOVED shoes
my entire life
I know my first
word was not
shoes … but it
was one soon after
My mother teased
that my aunt ‘marked’
me while she was
pregnant because
they always went
shoe shopping
My love-hate relationship
with shoes began in my
teens due to my small
foot and limited choices
Shoe heaven on earth
happened when I found
sample shoes that stores
sold at that time were
MY SIZE…
I really have no favorite
style or color
But…
Since retirement I
have lived in flip-flops
and Chucks of
every color and style
I still have way more
shoes that I can count
or even wear…
yet I always am on
the hunt for the
next new thing for
my feet …
