Fool For Love
Day 1 – April 2016 PAD
The first prompt of 2016 … Robert Lee Brewer
For today’s prompt, write a foolish poem. It’s April Fool’s Day, after all. Let’s loosen up today with a poem in which we’re fools, others are fools, or there’s some kind of prank or tomfoolery happening. Fool around with it a while.
Fool for Love
Everyone tells me …
Love conquers all
Perhaps for some
but …
all love has ever done
for me is play me for a
Fool…
Some tell me I am
too trusting…
too gullible…
too insecure…
In reality I am
someone who
gives too much…
cares too much…
wears my heart openly
only to have it
used…
abused…
broken…
ignored…
Now, at this time in my life
I am a Fool no more
Love is a word used so often
that it is meaningless
rather than that one special word
in a group of three we long to hear
from just the right someone
at just the right time
Words are meaningless
Actions are the only truth
