WARNING!

Please …

Don’t ever fall in love

with someone like me …

I wear my heart on my sleeve

I care too much

I am loyal to a fault

I get a bit clingy – just the way I am

I trust until you give me a

reason not to

I will always be there for

you until you are no longer

there for me

I love too deeply

And …

Give too much …

Much more than I ever receive

But …

Once you hurt me

Break my trust

Abuse my heart and soul

You will be removed

from my life without

WARNING … or

a backward glance

And …

NO second chances

So … you have been WARNED:

Do not fall in love with someone

like me if you cannot take me for

who and what I am and give to me

everything I give to you …

Sally Baker

She never had children of her own

But … informally adopted my dad

and two of his brothers when they

made their way to Texas to

seek their fortunes

By that time her only family

left was a nephew living

hundreds of miles away

Her name was really Sarah

but all who knew her called

her Sally

She was the grandmother I

never had and out of respect

she was always Mrs. Baker

or just Baker to me

In her old age with no family

at all, my Mom and Dad took

care of her

Upon her death bed, she told

my Mom this …

“Tell Roy Wilkins he won’t

have to smell my scorched

red beans any more.”

Roy was the local undertaker

and took care of her for her

final journey home with

the utmost respect

Gray hair perfectly coiffed

A slight smile on her lips

Pink cheeks and her ever-present

Cameo Brooch closing the

neck of her dress

She was loved by many

Missed by all and taught me

lessons I will never forget…

Flames

One week ago today

my world blew up

and now we are

about to flame out.
