Tired…

She was so tired…

Tired of the struggle…

Tired of the inequity…

Tired of being treated

as something other

than human

The bus doors open

She steps aboard

Looked down that

long aisle to the

back and thought

Enough…

Today is the day

I refuse to be

something I am

NOT…

I deserve the

Respect…

the option…

the RIGHT…

to sit in the front

section of this bus

to sit in any seat

I choose

And…

So it began…

Today’s prompt … write a historic poem.

*This poem was written in honor of and dedicated to Rosa Parks and her strength, dignity and pride for the Civil Rights of all people regardless of color, gender, or race. The bus seat was/is symbolic for the fight that continues to this day.
