Night Music

Night Music

Muted unidentifiable music coming

from down the lane

The Palomino guy’s house

is usually lit up like a country church

each night when I walk to the

barn and back

sounds of a TV show drifting out

the back door

Tonight…

it is dark at their end of the lane

I can’t decide where the

haunting music is coming from

It reminds me

of Bollywood movies — that high

pitch sound and phrasing…

But…

I can’t tell for sure

(no identifiable words…

just someone singing)

Definitely not the strains

of Tejano music that

usually floats through

the neighborhood

It is intriguing and

makes me smile…

I wrote this several nights ago, needed to have a break from the PAD prompts and post some of my other work.

The Four Seasons – Day 11 April PAD

The Four Seasons – Haiku

I – Autumn

Season of my birth

Falling leaves and cool days with

Nights of Autumn Bliss

II – Winter

Crisp cold air that tastes

of Winter…Peppermint and

Wood smoke on water

III – Spring

Wild flowers and bees

Sudden storms that clear stale air

The joys of Spring rain

IV – Summer

Hot sultry Summer

Nights holding mysteries and

Giddy young lovers

How to Go On Alone – Day 10 April PAD

How to Go On Alone

Unexpected call in

the middle of

the night

Those calls are

never good…

“… we regret to

inform you…”

“… so sorry

for your loss…”

And…

The dreaded life

of being alone

BEGINS…

Work Alarm! – Day 9 April PAD

Work Alarm!

The best part

of the day…

Not having to

wake up to

an alarm anymore

I did my time…

Paid my dues…

So…

This is my REWARD…

Retired…

Yet…

I still work

On my own terms…

My own time…

in my PJ’s

if I choose

But…

No more alarms

Unless I choose…
