The Candle

The weather turned not quite cold

but wet and chilly, blustery my Mom would say

Reading in my favorite chair by the window

I added a single white taper to my side table

Not warming, but causing a more cozy feeling

as I continued to read

The flickering light began to make me sleepy

as I stopped reading and found myself

drawn to that single flame

I must have dozed because the next thing

I knew it was dark outside and the flame

reflected in the window

Looking around things were different

My house …

My room …

But different

Everything appeared a wavy reflection

as I looked across the room

The clock was not in its normal place

and the time didn’t seem to be correct

A whispered voice called to me

Telling me that time shifted and to

go with the flow …

Enjoy the peacefulness of the

golden candle light until

time shifts once again

I was told …

When the shift happened

I was returned to my world …

My reality …

A sudden chill ran through me

and looking around everything

had returned to normal …

Yet …

Things were not the same

And …

Never would be again …

Take a Hike!

The older I get

the more I cannot deal

with drama from other

people … it just is a

waste of my time

and energy

Of course a nice long

walk in the woods

to chill me out and

find peace in my

soul is what is

needed almost daily

But …

What I really want

to do is to tell everyone to

TAKE A HIKE …

the meaning being

get out of my life …

Not All …

The older I become

the more I want to

turn back time

Have a ‘do-over’

in my life

I always did what

others expected of me

Not wanting to upset

or disappoint anyone

In true Libra fashion …

my goal was to keep

everyone balanced

and happy if possible

at times at my own expense

However …

that result left me wanting

more from life

regretting missed experiences

deciding to do what I

thought was the ‘right thing’

rather than my thing at the time

Some tell me it is never too late

to follow my dreams and chase

those wants, needs, and desires

Perhaps …

But I am not longer sure where

it was I wanted to wander …

Melting Time …

Melting Time…

As I become older

time becomes more

and more fluid

Daliesque …

Melting …

Moving too quickly

Or

Too slow depending

on what is going on

in my life

Age does that to

a person or so

I have been told

Recently, time seems

to be melting faster

than before

In the blink of an eye

hours have passed

nothing is accomplished

At this stage of my life

however …

I have no schedules to follow

No deadlines that must

be met daily

So time melting into

itself is something

I can enjoy when

I lose myself in a book…

Become one with a

story I am writing

or reading…

and suddenly the

day is drawing to

twilight

I smile and tell

myself it is what

was supposed to

happen today…

or yesterday…

or even tomorrow…

Time is a fleeting

precious thing and

I intend to enjoy it

in any way possible

Those melting periods

are absolutely delicious …

Frozen in Time …

Frozen in Time …

She held his pocket watch

in both hands

Remembering…

How many times

had she done this

same thing as a child?

He had two actually …

The railroad watch

with a train running

across the bottom

just below the ‘6’

His everyday watch

The one that he

slipped into his

right pocket each

morning before going

off the work

to build another bridge

connecting ribbons of

highway all across

the state

The other …

A gold watch with  a

snap cover and a red

stone embedded in

the top of the stem

His Sunday watch

The watch with a

chain that draped

across the fancy vest

he wore that sported

a special pocket for

the watch and a

buttonhole for the

toggle end of the

chain ..

draped just so across

his mid section

I inherited both

upon his death

And …

even though he was

buried in his Sunday

best, the full suit

I kept the Sunday

watch as mine

And …

his Railroad watch

went in to its rightful

place in his pocket

as it should have been

My Wish …

Carpe Diem Baby

I wish I could turn back time…

reset to that summer day we first me…

restart our lives from that point

And…

get to know you…

love you…

all over again

Have a do-over during the rough spots

and be more understanding when I

need to be as when you need to be

with me as well

Make our time be more specific…

more purposeful…

stronger —

together and alone

But…

Time marches on

Things change

We still love one another

But…

That love will never again

be like that first magical

summer when our love

was young…

new..

magic…

And…

so were we …

The Game

Make up your mind

Either go all in

or Fold

Time to get serious

and play the

hand you’re

dealt

If not …

It is time for

me to look

for a new

game and

a fresh deck…

The Edge of Time

Hanging onto the

Edge of Time

Mourning what never

was and what will

never be

Death of a friendship

in ways is much harder

to accept than the

death of an actual person

The  pain never ends

so true mourning

can actually begin

Secrets

She looks back

Memories…

Flashes of frozen time

like snapping pictures

as she walks the path

The front lawn on a

summer day

Cool grass beneath

their feet

Leading to the overhanging

Weeping Willow where

grass stains on white

eyelet reminds her of him…

that long ago summer when

she went from girl to woman

in that secret place

Further down the lane

Their barn…

Dark…

Fragrant…

A loft hideaway…

Their secret place…

Continuing on her memory

walk take her to the

old house

Their first one together

Climbing to the attic

she looks our remembering

his touch on her bare

shoulder…

A soft kiss on her neck…

Curving into his hard body

that was so loving and tender

Some feelings never go away

A mental snapshot…

A memory walk of

their life…

their love…

Opening the attic window

feeling the warm sun

on her face

She turns…

Picks up the Urn

Kisses the top…

Crying as she opens

the container

And…

Says ~

“Goodbye my love…

my darling…

fly upon the wind

until I am once again

a part of you.”

Downstairs…

the shadow of a

young girl waits…

her lover on the way

to their Secret Place…
