Conceal

That word …

Conceal

We all do it every day

We do it consciously

We do it unconsciously

But …

We hide the bits and pieces

of our lives

parts of…

who we are

who we are NOT

Until we no longer have

any idea who we really are

 

In this hiding lies begin

and…

we forget who we told what

who knows what about us

what promises we made

and…

what promises were broken

 

In Concealing our life

we lose ourselves…

we lose our identity…

we lose our souls…

we lose everything…

we live in pain and confusion

of our own creation

 

Come into the light

into the truth

stop hiding from yourself

stop hiding from others

be free …

Thunder rumbling in the distance

Sky dark and threatening

Storm brewing…

 

There are moments of clarity

Desire quickens…

Resting secure in the 

strength of your arms

 

The storm rages…

Builds…

And…

Finally passes…

 

Safe…

Security reigns

in your Arms…

Secret Afternoon…

Late Spring…

A gentle warm day

The afternoon spent 

lazing in the sun

Sharing their passion

Stolen moments…

 

He had to leave…

She must stay…

lounging in the 

afterglow of 

what they shared

 

Later…

She collects her 

book…

quilt…

 

And…

 

with sandals in hand

walked barefoot to

her car stopping to

check where she had

been quietly reading 

for any signs…

any indications…

of their secret 

meeting in the park

before stealing away

to that lovely…

     private…

            meadow…

 

She smiled knowingly

secretly…

reliving the afternoon

 

A deep breath

Squaring her shoulders

she resigned to go home

prepare dinner as though

nothing had changed

Life will be

Different

Secrets will be

Revealed

Trust will be

the Norm

Not…

the hoped for

 

Someday…

You and I

will not hide

from each other

 

Someday…

You and I 

will not ignore

what we feel

 

But…

 

Embrace our

friendship openly

You tell me you

Believe in me

That I am important

to you on many

different levels.

 

However…

 

I see nothing 

in your actions…

hear nothing

in your words…

that proves what

you tell me

 

Are these words

Sincere…

Or…

Empty?

 

I continue to be

Confused…

Try as I might

I seem to never

do or say the

right thing at

the right time

 

I try to give

compassion and

support…

But…

It…is…

NEVER…

It is so tiring

to try hard…

care too much…

Mama always said,

Her wisdom has 

always led me in

the right direction…

If only I am

Waiting isn’t easy

I Still Don’t Know…

Life is strange

And… unusual

Each of us going

our own separate way

Independent

 

Yet…

 

Depending on 

others along 

the way

 

Everyone we meet

leaves a little of

them behind

Making us who we are

Touching us…

Parts of us…

Pieces of us…

 

Usually we know

why things happen

why people come

into and out of

our lives

 

But…

 

Sometimes those we 

meet remain a

Mystery…

Still not knowing 

what or why

Only knowing life

is so much better

because they are here

Memories

Our lives are built on

memories…

Good and Bad

But…

They make us

who we are

 

The people who 

touch our lives

become a part of us

A sacred memory

instilled in each of us

 

Walking in the night

I savor each memory

of my life

Taste the flavor of the

summer air around me

as I create memories

attached to each

inside me

 

Looking into the

sky…

these new memories

set fire to the stars

and begin new

memories of 

my life…
